My Freebies

My Freebies

I love flowers.  Absolutely love working in the dirt and watching something
peek out from under the earth and become colorful and beautiful every spring.
My grandmother had gardens so beautiful that you almost expected them
to be in magazines.

Living in so many different states its hard to know what will thrive and grow in
this clay soil and hot weather.  We are learning as we go.

We don't usually spend a ton of money on the plants we have or want. One
afternoon my sweet husband brought home two beautiful topiary rose bushes.
They were on sale so it was a good buy.  I had been wanting them for months.
Envying anyone who had one and wishing they could be mine.
And in my ever so sweet way, begging for them.

Lets just say "I have no idea how to keep rose topiary trees alive and vibrant.
Before you start thinking of ways to advise, just hang with me one moment.

Lets just say they didn't exactly thrive.

Then one day I went out front to tend to my purchased flowers I noticed
my Freebies.  They came up last year and to my excitement they came
back this year.  I have no idea where they came from.  I never bought or
planted them.  Never laid seeds in the earth to see them grow.
They are truly my Freebies.

They are my favorite flowers!

I say all that to say this; God's provision is perfect.  In all the hours we spend
wanting, needing, and manipulating our lives to make them work the way we want
them to, we may be missing the Freebies that are planted right at our
doorstep.  Ask God to soften your heart.  I promise that when you lose
the expectations of wants and needs, God will show you a small, colorful
demonstration of real joy and you will be overcome with thanksgiving.
After all, the most precious gift of all, was a free one.

Ephisians 2:8
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from
yourselves, it is the gift of God

Romans 8:32
He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all–
how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

"The Gift of Raising"

Knowing you want the good for me and for her.
Knowing these moments may seem small.
Knowing these days we both are growing together.

These days are simple, precious and pure.
These days may sometimes seem tiring and trying.
These days are etched in our hearts forever more.

Help me to love her honestly and perfectly.
Help me to rely on you when I don't.
Help me to know her like you know me.

These moments though precious, will soon be gone.
These days pass quicker than I can possibly realize.
These pearls of wisdom from only you are drawn.

Remind me the gift of motherhood is just that, a gift.
Remind me not to lose your pearls amongst the mess.
Remind me each day that the end of childhood will come swift.

Telling myself the world outside your will, doesn't matter.
Telling her only your love is real and perfect.
Telling the world of your love, with how I teach her.

As I grasp on to her childhood with all my might
As I look to you for guidance
As I keep my emotions in line with your perfect sight.

Praying to you with shouts of glory and of much Praise.
Praying when my patience is so small.
Praying for wisdom, for this child you gave to me to raise.

A Mommy's Prayer

"A Mommy's Prayer"

Kneeling in prayer
I am pushing away evil with one fist in the air.
I am trying to think.
The words come pouring, emotions that brought me to this brink.

Pushing against the current.
Confused by the world and what is actually relevant.
I am not lost and alone
Praying for my life, my child, my home.

Lord, quiet me.
Hear my soul and its need, for only you can set me free.
Lord, know my intent
I want to serve but my humanness, my will does bend.

Draw me away.
Take me to our healing place, to peace and let me stay.
Help me know you
I am believing you, all our days can be sanctified, yes, all we do.

Protect your child
All that is against you would like my life to run wild.
Freedom is from you
Your words, written for me, will guide me through.

Standing from my knees
My heart is hard against sin, my soul, focused on you will be.
Strength for today
Stronger because of my time with you, under your protection I will stay.

Thank you Lord
All I have is yours.
Amen
