The Sometimes Weary Me God Knows and Loves

The Sometimes Weary Me God Knows and Loves

Philippians 1:9-11

9 I pray that your love will overflow
more and more, and that you
will keep on growing in
knowledge and understanding.
10 For I want you to understand
what really matters, so that you may
live pure and blameless lives
until the day of Christ’s return.
11 May you always be filled with
the fruit of your salvation—the righteous
character produced in your life by
Jesus Christ—for this will bring much
glory and praise to God.

Don't you love this?

I need to read this.  My heart is softened and encouraged
when I read these words.  I know there are people in my
life praying this for me. Encouraging me to walk this journey
to make it count, until we reach heaven or Christ returns.
Praying that I get what really matters.  Praying I understand
God's promises as well as His restrictions on my life.

I can get weary in well doing.  Do you?  I love to have fun.
In the old days and old ways of this heart, that could mean a
free-for-all.  God took over and He commands that I
no longer do what I once did.  There is that part of me
that some days is tired of the hard work a Christian walk
can be.  I grow weary in that.  I think many do.  I don't
think that Weariness would be mentioned so often if it
were not a common feeling among believers.  Keeping
up with the Christian "to do's" can be at times, difficult.

Galatians 6:9
So let’s not get tired of doing what is good.
At just the right time we will reap a harvest of
blessing if we don’t give up.

2 Thessalonians 3:13

As for the rest of you, dear brothers and sisters,
never get tired of doing good.

Hebrews 12:3
Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people;*
then you won’t become weary and give up.

These aren't suggestions.  These are commands.  But they
also imply that it is possible to "Feel" weary of doing
good or running the good race.

So the word reaches out to us on all levels.
  1. - God understands that you may feel tired.
  2. -  He commands that we do not give in to the weariness.
  3. -  He gives us examples of Christ not giving up.
  4. - He promises reward when we don't give up in our race.

So just in case someone out there in cyber world feels like
they may just be ready to set aside the good race and walk in your
own "Me parade".  Look at these verses.  May it stir up a new
refreshed desire to keep doing well.  This can mean doing well and not
being appreciated fully.  This can mean again putting someone else's
needs in front of yours and being happy about it.  This can
mean being the odd man out.  This could mean striving for
peace and joy when none seems readily available.  Cultivating the
fruit of the Spirit is sometimes hard work.
Choosing the presence of mind when it seems easier to give
in to despair and tears.  Strive to continue and end this race well.

God knows  who I am.  He is not surprised that some days I
begin to grow weary in well doing.  But here is His voice in my
heart from His own hand, telling me not only that He understands
these feelings, but He gives me clear examples to follow
and then ends it with a  promise of Blessing.

God knows you too!  Follow His direction and He will
see you on to the end of this good race.

Dedicated to Melanie Kirby and her sweet family.
A friend and example of what it means
to run the good race to the very end.
All the love  her family in Christ could give,
we give to her and her family.
